As the fastest growing city in Cherokee County, Woodstock has boomed since the start of the recession. According to the Downtown Development Authority, downtown Woodstock alone has 430 businesses and 2,133 employees. With this amount of people, the city is becoming a popular relocation area for professionals, families and active adults. To meet the needs of this growing city, Windsong Properties is building its newest community, Garden Street. Located off of Main Street, the community offers the builder?s award-winning ranch homes within a successful and walkable area of the city.
?Throughout the recession, the micro-economy of Woodstock has grown as the nation?s economy remained looking bleak,? stated Carrie Roeger, marketing manager of Windsong Properties. ?For this reason, we believed that it was the right time to invest in downtown Woodstock.?
Garden Street officially opened on Monday, March 12, 2012 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. 33 guests attended, including Mayor Donnie Henriques, several city council members and Billy Peppers from the Downtown Development Authority.
This new ranch home community is just another proof that this metro Atlanta area is booming. Additionally, according to the 2011 and 2010 economic activity reports from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, downtown Woodstock has generated 180 new jobs, rehabbed 30 buildings, hosted 237 community events with 77,866 in attendance and made six public improvements.
Garden Street will have 19 single story detached ranch homes with maintenance free yards. The community is convenient to I-575 and the numerous dining, shopping and recreational destinations near historic Woodstock Square.
?Many people in the area are ready to downsize,? continued Roeger. ?The ambience of downtown Woodstock is so wonderful, and people are drawn to it. Having an elegant ranch home within walking distance of the many shops, restaurants and activities makes this a highly sought after place to live.?
The area is projected to continue to grow. According to the city?s Office of Economic Development Services, downtown Woodstock is estimated to grow from a 5,702 population in 2010 to a 9,771 population in 2015. In addition, the amount of dwellings will grow from 2,597 in 2010 to 4,337 in 2015. Windsong Properties hopes to help contribute to these increases with its new ranch homes.
